It’s been some time now since the PS5 released, however the console has been plagued with stock issues and a price-point that may be off putting to many. Whilst the stock issues are now a thing of the past as you can see on our PS5 deals comparison, the PS4 still remains very popular in the gaming world. Due to this ongoing transitional period, it is the perfect opportunity for new players to catch up on some high-profile PS4 exclusive games they may have missed. That’s why, in addition to ranking below all games in ascending order, we’ll also display them at their lowest current purchase price from a range of UK storefronts.
There’s a lot to dive into, so let’s take a look at the 10 best PS4 exclusive games you can play right now.
A gothic descent into the darkly unknown, Bloodborne is FromSoftware's acclaimed Dark Souls spin-off. Focusing on the totally new world of Yharnam, full of fresh sights and characters, you take on the role of a hunter who finds himself fending off creatures during the night of The Hunt.
Much like Dark Souls and even Demon Souls before that, Bloodborne’s combat works as a true test of patience and skill on behalf of the player. Being too aggressive or not watching your step is a sure-fire way of getting killed and being sent back to the beginning. Therefore, you’ll need to educate yourself about each enemy’s movements, looking for an opening that will let you unleash a visceral attack. Few Action-RPGs are this thoughtful, making Bloodborne one of the 10 best PS4 exclusive games.

Petrolhead players on PS4 will absolutely want to check out the latest first-party racing sim instalment from Polyphonal Digital. Grand Turismo has always been considered the Rolls-Royce of this genre, for sure, but now they’ve raised the bar once again with the return of a single-player career mode, GT Simulation, and some of the best graphics ever seen in a racing game – even on PlayStation 4. The wait for Gran Turismo 7 was a long one, but well worth it in the end.
Players on PS4 mightn’t be able to enjoy real-time ray-tracing, 3D spatial audio, and haptic feedback, but the core of Gran Turismo 7 remains impressive. Dynamic time and weather effects provide an extra layer of challenge, forcing you to take every corner, straight, and ravine into account so as not to skid out. At present there are over 448 cars to take for a spin in Gran Turismo 7, the interiors of which have all been faithfully recreated to make you feel like the racing champion. This game is the real driving simulator, and one of the best PlayStation exclusives on PS4 as a result.
Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series was one of the main reasons to buy a console back in the PS3 era. With that in mind, it makes a lot of sense that this fourth and final entry would be just as pivotal in many people’s decision to pick up a PS4. The journey of wise-cracking Nathan Drake may indeed conclude in A Thief’s End, but this globe-trotting journey is perhaps the closest you can get to feeling the ultimate rollercoasting thrill ride in a game.
For Drake’s final outing, Naughty Dog upped the stakes by retaining the solid third-person cover shooting from previous entries, this time mixing it with sporadic open world elements that feel a lot more freeing compared to simply gunning it down corridors. Light puzzle-solving also returns, adding in spectacular vehicle sections that make you feel like your living your own Hollywood set piece. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is one of the best exclusive games on PS4.
PS4 players looking to fulfil their fantasy of becoming an authentic samurai warrior now can thanks to Ghost of Tsushima. You play as Jin Sakai, the humble protector of Tsushima island who is forced to flee and recoup his abilities following a cataclysmic attack from the invading Mongolian fleet. It’s now your job to learn the ways of the samurai while liberating bandit camps and improving your swordsmanship, all in the effort to become a more formidable warrior when the time comes to face your enemies head on.
Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world game in the truest sense, perfectly capturing the look and feel of 13th century Japan through the use of ancient imagery and an authentic film grain effect. You’ll travel from area to area either by foot or on horseback, aiding locals in need that you’ll discover after being guided by the wind. The game has also had a Director's Cut version with a full expansion with the new Iki Island to explore with stories to enjoy as well as a fully built-out co-op online mode called Legends. If you’re seeking a different kind of action game you can sink plenty of time in, you can't go wrong with this top 10 PS4 exclusive game contender.
Rumours of a remake of Final Fantasy VII had been circulating for so long, when the project was officially revealed by Square Enix in 2015 players couldn’t quite believe it. This was especially the case when the final game released in April 2020. Though only the first chapter in this three-part story, Final Fantasy VII Remake is one of the best PS4 exclusive games due to the way it reimagines the Midgar portion of this classic JRPG for a 21st century audience.
Sights might seem familiar and the basic story bones are there, but pretty much every other aspect of Final Fantasy VII Remake has been rebuilt from the ground-up. This is evidenced best in the new combat system, which now plays out in real-time with you switching between characters like Cloud, Barrett and Tifa to maintain pressure on enemies during fights. While the classic Active Time Battle system returns, sort of, it now sees you temporarily stop time to deploy better fight tactics. Whether you’re new to Final Fantasy VII or a lifelong fan, you won’t want to miss this new PS4 interpretation.

After a long 5 year wait, we now have access to the much-anticipated sequel in the Horizon series from Guerrilla Games with Horizon Forbidden West, and boy oh boy is it a delight. Bigger and better than its predecessor with new gorgeous environments to explore in an open world menaced with mechanical dinosaurs Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 is definitely not a title you want to miss out on.
As to be expected with a sequel, Guerilla Games has made great strides in order to make this game everything fans of the original wanted and more: many more mechanical beasts, better human AI, improved stealth and parkour/climbing mechanics. It's all here as you guide Aloy through the next steps in her story with Horizon: Forbidden West in one of the latest PS4 exclusives on this list, pushing the console to its absolute limits to provide some incredible visuals. For all these reasons and more Horizon Forbidden West easily makes our list of the top 10 best PS4 exclusives.
While it might seem weird to consider one of the PS2’s best games to also be one of the best PS4 exclusive games, that just goes to show how everlasting and epic Shadow of the Colossus is to this day. Originally developed by Team Ico and then remastered in 2018 by Bluepoint Games, the Shadow of the Colossus remake retains the original’s simplicity while giving the graphics an extensive overhaul to make it feel like a modern game.
For those unaware, this timeless classic sees a lone wanderer on a mission to revive his fallen beloved. His only option to do so is by taking down the twelve different colossi that roam these open lands. Armed with your trusty steed Agro and an enchanted sword, Shadow of the Colossus is a game made up solely of boss fights, with each one being more haunting than the previous. All this artistic vision and simplicity is what sees it make our list of the 10 best PS4 exclusive games.
The sequel to what many PS4 players consider to be one of the greatest games of all time, The Last of Us Part II finally released in 2020 and divided players everywhere. It picks up soon after the events of the original game, where there’s still a lot of friction between Joel and Ellie but both are thrown into a gritty revenge tale. Ellie is your primary protagonist this time around, now equipped with the ability to fight and stealth her way against human and undead enemies alike.
The Last of Us Part II is one of the best PS4 exclusive games because it leaves a lasting impact on pretty much everyone that plays it. Story aside, the gameplay includes some of the most intense and sleek combat you'll find on the console. Not only that, but it also has the most gorgeous graphics seen on the PS4. If you want to be immersed in a video game narrative that will definitely get you feeling something, The Last of Us Part II is for you.
Marvel is in a great place right now. Just when you think its big screen efforts can’t get more epic or break any more financial records, Spider-Man: No Way Home comes along to blow all expectations out of the water. To further prove that Spider-Man is an all-time favourite, Marvel’s Spider-Man is still one of the best PS4 exclusive games. An open world superhero video game that capitalises on the web-head's powers, Marvel's Spider-man chooses to tell an entirely standalone story about how great power comes great responsibility.
As Spider-Man, you’ll swing through an incredibly realistic-looking version of New York, undertaking side missions and saving citizens whenever you want to take a short break from the game’s main plot. There are numerous powers to master and plenty of alternative costumes to unlock, giving you cause to hunt down every Easter Egg and comic book reference. Marvel’s Spider-Man is one of the best superhero games released in recent years, and therefore one of the best PS4 exclusives.
Just when you think Santa Monica Studio couldn’t beat its staggeringly good God of War reboot from 2018, they go and follow it up with a sequel that is far grander and much more emotional in scope. Ragnarök picks up a couple of years later following that game’s events, following Kratos and Atreus’ journey to prevent the forthcoming end of days. Doing so means learning skills, acquiring new weapons, and engaging further in one of the best-feeling third-person combat systems out there as our favourite father and son duo attempt to stop a prophecy.
God of War: Ragnarök ups the ante in almost every respect, offering a larger world filled with more realms to explore alongside a more eclectic cast of characters. Whereas the first God of War reboot kept things streamlined while players got to grips with new systems, Ragnarök blows the doors off and sees you rub shoulders with the likes of Odin, Thor, and others. This PS4 exclusive is pure blockbuster entertainment that packs an emotional punch, and is a must-play for everyone who owns the platform.
If you STILL don't know what great PS4 exclusives to play, here are a few honourable mentions that might become your new favourite. All are cracking in their own right, only further serving to highlight the exceptional library available on Sony's platform.
What was once a PlayStation franchise known for being a testosterone-fuelled rampage trip through Greek mythology is now a little deeper in its first soiree onto PS4. No longer is God of War just about mindless action. This in-depth and thoughtful over-the-shoulder adventure sets the eponymous Kratos on a journey of self-discovery. Aside from this, the game looks and plays great, utilising the full power of PS4 to generate amazing visuals. Whilst its sequel knocks this game off the list it is still a must-play PlayStation exclusive. Play this one before God of War Ragnarok to get the most out of Kratos and Atreus' enthralling tale.

Having slaved away on Killzone for well over 10 years, developer Guerrilla Games was keen to have a fresh start on PS4 by way of creating a totally new game series. Horizon: Zero Dawn was the start of that, being a post-post-apocalyptic open-world game where you are a budding adventurer who must hunt and take down robot dinosaurs. It went on to be an award-winning success, with many critics praising how confident it was for a first release and just how deep this new universe already felt.
Simply getting around the world of Horizon: Zero Dawn never ceases to feel freeing, as you come across settlements of unique communities, uncover new robot species and investigate more about what happened in the years before society’s collapse. All this is bolstered by some of the most satisfying combat found in an open world game, making it one of the best exclusive PS4 games around.
How do you follow up one of the greatest games of all time? That’s the quandary Team Ico faced in 2016, when The Last Guardian finally launched on PlayStation 4, several years after the critically acclaimed Shadow of the Colossus. This PS4 exclusive game serves as an exploratory third-person adventure where you guide a boy and his giant bird-dog companion through a ravaged fantasy land. The relationship between these two characters is what solidifies The Last Guardian as one of the best stories in gaming – exclusive to Sony’s platform.

As if Persona 5 couldn't get any better, Atlus added more content, more style and more enhancements for this PS4 exclusive version. If you're a fan of Persona games, or just JRPGs in general, Persona 5 Royal will tick all your boxes. Mixing turn-based battles with social sim elements, you'll laugh, cry and want to experience the story over and over again. Persona 5 Royal just missed the top 10 list by an inch, but it’s still a worthwhile must play for anyone yearning for an incredibly deep and highly polished JRPG.

When Hideo Kojima announced he was leaving Konami in 2015 to work on something new, everyone was left wondering what new crazy concoction of a game he would cook up. 2019 eventually gave us that answer via the ethereal Death Stranding, an open-world game where you're tasked with reconnecting humanity amid the aftermath of the titular event. A lot of your time is spent meandering, walking and delivering packages, culminating in one of the most unique AAA PS4 exclusives that, to the right person, will be the best exclusive game on the console.

Following up immediately on Cole McGrath’s story in InFamous 2, InFamous: Second Son sets players off within the real-life city of Seattle as new protagonist Delsin Rowe. At his disposal are a whole host of superpowered abilities, namely those of concrete, video, neon and smoke. Mastering these is the only way to do battle with the evil Augustine and her army of henchmen, getting around the city as smoothly and quickly as possible.
While Uncharted 4 may have indicated the end of Nathan Drake’s story, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy saw the series continue in a minor fashion via this spin-off that focussed on supporting characters Chloe and Nadine. It centres on the personal exploits of the former, who must venture to India in search of an ancient artefact important to her family’s history. You’ll learn things about Chloe you didn’t know before, swinging, shooting and exploring throughout.
Just when you think that you’ve seen it all with zombies in games, Days Gone comes along as one of the best PS4 exclusive games and uses them more creatively than most. These aren’t your grand pappy’s flesh-eaters, slow and prodding as is usually depicted, but rather fast, swarming and likely to overwhelm you if not managed correctly. This you do as lone survivor Deacon St. John, exploring an open-world version of Bend, Oregon.

Perfectly primed to scare PS4 players everywhere, Until Dawn is a spookily themed choose-your-own-adventure game from Supermassive Games that lets you live out our own teen slasher flick. You’ll take on the reigns of various characters, solving puzzles and making decisions that will either see the cast of characters live or die. The entire story takes place over one night and features the talents of famous actors such as Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere. As such, it’s the closest thing to a playable movie on PlayStation 4. Its spiritual successor The Quarry is coming out soon to PS4, and while not a PS4 exclusive game this time, it should still be a good time for fans of horror.
Imagination and art come together in PS4 exclusive game Concrete Genie, which tells the heart-warming story of Zack who must fight back against the bullies using his sketchbook while bringing life and colour back to the fictional port town of Denska. This was a once bustling town that’s been suddenly plunged into darkness. Luckily, though, harnessing the magical properties of your graffiti and cleaning up polluted environments is enough to bring life back to it. Paint your world beautiful in this creative PS4 title.

Ratchet & Clank was a charming 3D platformer that first blasted onto the scene as a PS2 exclusive back in 2002. The PS4 iteration is a remake of the lombax and robot duo’s original adventure, quickly claiming the title as one of the most stunning games to release on the platform. Ratchet & Clank (2016) may have been intended to tie-in with the official movie, but its nature as a solid space adventure allows it to stand all on its own.
