The 2024 Amazon Prime Day has been confirmed for July 16th and 17th, so mark it in your calendars if you're after some deals. The sale will span across 2 days (lasting a full 48 hours) and there are sure to be plenty of fantastic savings to be had across all sectors, but we’re going to be focusing on what to expect in gaming including consoles, TVs, peripherals and of course… Games.
When it comes to Xbox we’re quite excited about Amazon Prime Day deals because of the availability of the consoles. The Xbox Series X and Series S stock is stable enough now tthat Amazon regularly discounts both Series S consoles and the bigger Series X. Hopefully we get some good bundles this year or see the all-digital Series S console under the £200 price mark. Keep an eye out for Xbox Series X deals over prime day via our dedicated deals page.
Accessories and games are also likely to see some decent offers, last year we saw a few third-party titles reduced and due to the value of Xbox Game Pass for Xbox’s first-party offerings, this will probably be the preference for most Xbox gamers this year as well. We may even see some discounts on Game Pass Ultimate memberships which are always welcome as it is already one of the best deals in gaming and the price is set to go up in September.
Nintendo has a strong lineup of games again in 2024 with Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, Mario vs Donkey Kong, Metroid Prime 4, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom either released or coming soon, so it's still a great time to pick up any of the Switch consoles. With rumours of a Switch 2 console gaining more steam, we should again see some big discounts for the Standard, Lite and OLED models of the console or some new Nintendo Switch Bundles during Prime Day.
As for older games, the likes of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Metroid Dread will hopefully go on sale again, but keep in mind Nintendo Switch games are revered for how well they maintain their value!
At the end of 2023 Sony released the PS5 slim and PS5 slim digital consoles. They were hard to get at first but now stock has stabilised and can actually find the console really quite easily. It's unclear if there will be large discounts on the PS5 slim consoles during Prime Day less than a year after their release, but with stock not being an issue we won't rule it out. There might also be some good discounts and bundles on the older PS5 Disc or PS5 Digital consoles this Amazon Prime Day if retailers are looking to clear stock so keep an eye out for those. PSVR2 also released last year but we'd say it's unlikely to see any discounts on it so far.
If you already own the console don't worry we now have a decent chunk of titles on PS5, a few big exclusives like Horizon Forbidden West and God of War: Ragnarok as well as lots of great third-party games such as Resident Evil 4 and Hogwarts Legacy. This means more options for some decent offers and discounts when compared to last year when the selection was a lot thinner. As the library expands there's sure to be some great deals from titles you may have missed in years gone by as well as ones from 2024.
If you're after a new or spare PS5 DualSense controller then we expect Amazon will discount these again for their Prime Day sale. Deals and potentially the other official accessories such as the DualSense Charging Station and the Pulse 3D headsets.
One product line that tends to see some great discounts during Amazon Prime Day is PC peripherals/components such as SSDs, gaming keyboards, gaming mice and more. Logitech as a brand tends to see some great prices on their mice, such as the Logitech G Pro and their Logitech G915 Keyboard which are fantastic wireless options if you’re looking to get rid of those pesky wires. If you’re after anything peripheral-related for your computer (i.e. monitors etc.) we definitely recommend holding off till Prime Day if you’re a member because there are often some huge discounts that are worth waiting for.
TVs are often discounted on these big sale days of the year like Black Friday - and Amazon Prime Day is no different. We’d expect to see some solid discounts on a few of the OLED models, such as the LG C3 TVs which saw big discounts on Black Friday at Amazon. We’d expect Samsung Neo QLED to most likely follow suit, and these TVs are certainly some of the premier ways to take advantage of your powerhouse next-generation consoles.
Amazon Prime Day 2024 might reserve the best site-wide deals for Prime subscribers, but this catch has an easy workaround. If you haven’t been an Amazon Prime member for the last 12 months you can sign up for a free trial here. The current trial lasts for 30 days so now we know that the date of Amazon Prime Day 2024 is July 16th-17th you can redeem your membership any time before that date and take full advantage of the great sales. You won’t be charged for your free trial, but you will be upgraded to a full membership automatically if you don’t remember to cancel before the payment date - so make sure to keep that in mind. Obviously, you have nothing to worry about if you’re an existing Amazon Prime member.
The official start date for Amazon Prime Day 2024 is July 16th and will last a full 48 hours through to the end of July 17th. We will also probably see some early Prime Day gaming deals appearing on some popular tech products before the official start date though so keep your eyes peeled as we approach the 16th.
These consoles are still in heavy demand but stock levels are much better than they were a couple of years ago. We'd therefore expect Xbox Series S consoles to be more likely to receive discounts than Xbox Series X but we have our fingers crossed that both of Microsoft's consoles will get some meaninful discounts, and that both the PS5 Slim consoles and any remaining PS5 standard consoles will be offer up some solid Prime Day gaming deals.
