It’s been a frustrating time for players wanting to purchase
a PlayStation 5 here in the UK lately, with Sony fumbling initial pre-orders
back in September and a continued uncertainty about when stock will return.
However, all hope isn’t seemingly lost yet, as Amazon UK recently emailed
certain customers with news that it will indeed be taking PS5 orders at launch
on November 19th, 2020.
“We will make every effort to deliver all orders as soon as possible,” the email read with regards to how PS5 orders are being handled this Thursday. It then went on to state that stock will be going live at 12pm GMT but that it is incredibly limited. Amazon UK is being upfront with customers about there being uncertainty: “If you order, we will email you with an estimated delivery date. However, this may be subject to change.”
The standard PS5 is priced at £449.99 here in the UK, with the
cheaper, discless alternative being sold for £100 less. Presumably Amazon will
have both console SKUs available for a brief time when they pop up around
midday, though the email failed to mention whether this was the case.
Joining Amazon this Thursday in taking limited PS5 orders will be other tech giants like Currys PC World, Argos and GAME. Whereas Amazon has outlined a specific time, though, no other is yet to state what time they’ll be going live. This all-around lack of timing and order is what’s led so many prospective PS5 purchasers to becoming increasingly annoyed. You think Sony would have learned.
Of course, we here at Gaming Deals are hoping to compensate for this latter issue, keeping a close eye on all the UK’s games retailers this Thursday and posting PS5 listings in our highlights section and social feeds to five players the best chance possible. Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly.
