Lockdown may have now lifted in the UK for the most part, but that hasn’t stopped Ubisoft from giving players a way to safely stay indoors while undertaking a grand adventure. Assassin’s Creed Origins first released in 2017 as the franchise’s big transition into the RPG model. It was incredibly well received, and now you’ll be able to try it for FREE by downloading it from UPlay this weekend. This marks the latest in a long line of games Ubisoft has offered easy access to during the global pandemic.

Assassin’s Creed Origins follows Bayek, who is the last of the respected order of medjay, exploring ancient Egypt while attempting to track down his son’s killer. It’s a surprisingly personal and emotional tale of revenge than what you would typically expect from an Assassin’s Creed game, reinforced by an immersive and grand open world that encourages curiosity. Anyone who enjoyed 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will have some idea of what to expect.

So how do you download this ancient Egyptian masterclass? Well, you’ll need what’s called a UPlay account, which acts as Ubisoft’s game launcher for PC players. Once you sign up and make an account you should be able to head to the Assassin’s Creed Origins and have the ability to temporarily download it for free. You’ll be able to do so from 2pm tomorrow (19th June) until 9pm on Sunday (21st June). You might not see everything, but that’s more than enough time to get knee deep in sand.

Until then, why not consider pre-order Assassin’s Creed Valhalla before its global launch later on this year? It may swap Egyptians for Vikings but the world looks just as beautiful. Here’s the best price:
