It being the end of the month means it’s time to run through December’s crop of free games for Xbox Games with Gold and PS Plus subscribers. Next-gen consoles are now officially out in the wild here in the UK, and while the selection this month won’t exactly push your shiny new boxes to the absolute limit graphically, all the included titles run the distinct genre gamut. Needless to say, it's a good time to be subscribed to either of these services.
December’s Games with Gold titles represent well over £60 in savings, giving you the means to descend to and explore the depths of hell or hunt for a legendary master thief in 1960s London. It all kicks off with The Raven Remastered and Saints Row: Gat out of Hell on December 1st, the first being a period-set mystery and the latter letting you shoot your way through endless demons. Then, on December 16th, two more games arrive to treat Xbox fans in Bleed 2 and Stacking.
Here’s a brief breakdown of every Games with Gold title arriving in December:
The Raven Remastered:A graphical remastering of the original 2013 mystery game, The Raven Remastered sets you in the shoes of a detective hunting down the titular master thief after an ancient ruby from the British Museum is stolen. It’s a classic interpretation of the “Whodunit” adventure narrative, letting Xbox explores explore and investigate a thrilling crime story. Look forward to solving the case when The Raven Remastered comes to Xbox Games with Gold on December 1st, 2020.
Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell: Releasing for Xbox 360 but also forwards compatible for Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X systems, Saints Row: Gat out of Hell is a standalone spin-off to the rambunctious fourth entry of THQ’s trademark open-world series. It takes place entirely in the underworld with you playing as Johnny Gat, attempting to escape by fulfilling the duties of Shakespeare, Blackbeard and even the devil himself. All of hell is yours to explore from December 1st onwards, so be sure to give this one a download when it becomes available.
Bleed 2: Pixelated shooters don’t get more stylish than Bleed 2, which challenges players to make their way through seven challenging levels and go up against a staggering 25 bosses. In order to be successful as the pink-haired protagonist Wryn, you’ll need to master the art of air dodging, aiming and blasting in this critically acclaimed indie sequel that’s centred on fast-paced action. Bleed 2 is available for Gold subscribers on December 16th.
Stacking: Developed by the same team behind Psychonauts, Costume Quest and Brutal Legend comes Stacking, a puzzle and graphical adventure hybrid in which players must stack and unstack themselves into a series of larger dolls. You do this as protagonist Charlie Blackmore who is in search of his family from the evil clutches of a villain known only as The Baron. You’ll solve a wide variety of riddles and challenges when December 16th rolls around and it becomes available.
