Originally an early Xbox One exclusive from a tiny indie studio, the first Ori game charmed everyone with its fantastical art style and inventive environments. This 2020 follow-up, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, looks to build upon these core tenants, delivering another challenging but fair metroidvania style adventure set in a vast and exotic world. Players will once again be tasked with guiding little Ori through a litany of fun puzzles, platforming obstacles and bosses, making for an immersive 2D adventure unlike most others.
Fans of the Souls-borne style of action game will absolutely want to check out Nioh 2, Team Ninja’s highly anticipated follow-up to the 2017 cult hit. In it, you play as a lowly Japanese warrior equipped with many mystical powers and creative weaponry. It’s your job to slay all of the merciless demons that are currently plaguing 1500s Japan, upgrading your character and learning to be patient in enemy encounters in this prequel to the original game. Coming exclusively to PS4 on March 13th, there’s no better way to sharpen your swordsman skills in-game.
It seems like Nintendo players have been left clamouring for a true sequel to Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the 3DS for the longest time. Thankfully, the month of March finally remedies that, with New Horizons acting as one of the biggest Nintendo Switch exclusives of the year. Launching towards the ned of the month on March 20th, you’ll be gifted an island in which to explore and forge your very own sense of community. Craft everything from tools to furniture to the very outfits you wear, until eventually you’ll be the inhabitant of your very own island paradise.
If you thought 2016’s ambitious Doom reboot was violent and excessive, the folks over at Id Software and Bethesda are ready to blow those expectations away with the release of Doom Eternal. Featuring the same “push-forward” combat as before that encourages you to shoot and battle aggressively, this the Doomslayer is forced to take the Hellish fight to Earth as part of a meaty FPS campaign that sees you go head on with all manner of gruesome demons and monsters. When it was first announced that the creators of Hellblade and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West would be making a multiplayer-centric game, players were understandably sceptical about what the result would be.
