So last night marked the latest update from Nintendo via a Direct, highlighting upcoming games both announced and unannounced. There was definitely some surprises in these new reveals and in this blog we will update you on everything in case you didn't have time to catch it last night.

Nintendo Switch Online Update

Nintendo unveiled a new membership plan which would include titles from classic games for the Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis. It is important to note that this expansion pack will be a different membership that you can upgrade to if you already have a Nintendo Online membership and will have all your previous benefits. Below we will summarise what games will be out on launch in late October, keep in mind Nintendo has said they will be adding more such as The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and Banjo Kazooie. There is also some wireless versions of the classic controllers for their corresponding consoles that will be available to pre-order at a later date.

Nintendo 64 games included at launch:

  • Mario Kart 64
  • Dr Mario 64
  • Super Mario 64
  • Star Fox 64
  • Mario Tennis 64
  • Sin and Punishment
  • Yoshi's Story
  • Winback
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

  • M.U.S.H.A.
  • Ristar
  • Gunstar Heroes
  • Shining Force
  • Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
  • Strider

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

First up one of my personal favorite games of this year Monster Hunter Rise, is getting a full-blown expansion. The trailer hinted at what we can expect in terms of an antagonist monster; somewhat similar to Fatalis but with a more sinister tone. This should introduce a lot of new monsters, armor, weapons and the G rank for hunters. End of the trailer indicated this will be releasing in Summer 2022. If you're yet we've got the best price available below.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Kirby is also back with a 3D platform adventure that is looking fantastic. Set in what seems to be set in a lush colourful region known as The Forgotten Land which players will be able to explore and battle through in Spring next year.

Disco Elysium - The Final Cut - Nintendo Switch Edition

RPG Disco Elysium is being ported to Switch on the 12th of October and will boast a new interface that is more suitable for the Nintendo's flagship console. Choices here matter as you become a hero or a villain in this RPG adventure. Discover clues via interrogation and exploring the skills within yourself.

Bayonetta 3

Last night also saw the big reveal of Bayonetta 3's gameplay. Platinum games did not disappoint here, with all the crazy theatrics you'd come to expect from a Bayonetta game whilst also revealing some new mechanics. Bayonetta 3 will launch for Nintendo Switch in 2022, we'd expect to see more of this game in future Nintendo Directs.

Splatoon 3

Previously announced at a Nintendo Direct back in February we got another glimpse of colourful paint-filled Splatoon 3. The next installment of the Splatoon story is set to release in 2022 and will host that 4v4 multiplayer combat everybody loves whilst forwarding the story with a fresh new single-player campaign.

Chocobo GP

As we all eagerly await Mario Kart 9 it seems Final Fantasy have us covered with the announcement of Chocobo GP a cutesy sequel to the 1999 original that nobody saw coming. If you're ready to jump into some kart racing then Chocobo GP releases 2022 for Nintendo Switch.

Mario Party Superstars

Mario Party Superstars is not too far away now releasing on October 29th. Nintendo showed 3 boards that you will be able to play on which are: Woody Woods, Yoshi's tropical island and Horror Land. They also confirmed online play is supported on all boards and mini-games which is fantastic news. If you want to pre-order Mario Party Superstars then we have put the best price available below.

Some updates on existing and upcoming games

  • Mario Golf: Super Rush is seeing it's first free update since launch including some new courses and playable character which includes the Koopa Trooper and Ninjii and it's already out!
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons has teased barista Brewster and will be giving out more news in October. Exciting I am sure for the many Animal Crossing fans who have probably felt a bit of a content drought as of late.
  • Intriguing new title Voice of Cards: The Isle of Dragon Roars is a card-based RPG that is coming to Switch next month on October 28th and has a demo that you can jump into right now if you're interested.
  • The Castlevania Advance collection was announced and is already up on the Nintendo eShop!
  • BioWares beloved Knights of The Old Republic will be getting a Switch Port that is arriving on the 11th of November

So that's a summary of what happened last night. Let us know below what your favorite reveal/updates were in the comments below!
