Those with a Games with Gold or Game Pass Ultimate subscription can already download and play this month’s delights, while PlayStation Plus members will be able to claim their freebies from 6th July onwards. Here we’ll round-up what each subscription gets you – so be sure to renew yours if it’s required.

PlayStation Plus for July 2021

As per usual PlayStation Plus subscribers have three FREE games to look forward to: One for PlayStation 5 and two more for PlayStation 4. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, we’ll admit, but July’s selection still covers a wide gamut of genres. Everything becomes available on 6th July, where A Plague Tale: Innocence, WWE 2K Battlegrounds and Black Ops 4 will be ready for you to download. Want to know more about what each PS Plus game for July entails? You’ve come to the right place.

Here’s a brief breakdown of every PS Plus title arriving in July:

A Plague Tale: Innocence: Seamlessly blending survival horror with elements of stealth, A Plague Tale: Innocence already released in 2019 as a surprise hit. However, anyone that originally missed this bleak and frightful tale set against the backdrop of the French revolution will be delighted, as this remastered version has been overhauled with PS5 architecture in mind. PlayStation 5 players can now enjoy a 4K native resolution, targeted 60 FPS, fast loading and improved visuals. Experience the story of Amicia and Hugo like never before.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4: It may not have a dedicated single-player campaign like most modern entries, but Black Ops 4 still offers PS4 and PS5 players a suite of action-packed multiplayer modes to enjoy. Core to this experience is Blackout, a Battle Royale-style race to become the last soldier standing. It brings together all of Call of Duty’s best elements while introducing all-out survival combat, challenging you to work as a team or alone to outlast the evolving map.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds: After the critical and commercial disaster of WWE 2K 2020, 2K went back to the drawing board for the most recent entry in video gaming’s trademark wrestling series. WWE 2K Battlegrounds, as the name might suggest, is a more arcade-centric take on the concept, depicting famous superstars as pint-sized icons that can creatively dispatch the competition. Whether in standard exhibitions or a fully-voiced single-player story, balance your skills and make the most of the environment around you in WWE 2K Battlegrounds.

Games with Gold for July 2021

An eclectic selection of titles fill’s out this months Gameswith Gold titles (starting from today). It somewhat makes up for what has recently been rather a disappointing line-up, covering a wide variety of genres. From space-age side-scrollers set in a colourful universe to throwback 3D platformers that harken back to the golden days of the original Xbox, below we’ll cover what you can expect from Games with Gold for July.

Here’s a brief breakdown of every Games with Gold title arriving in July:

Planet Alpha: Available from 1st July onwards, Planet Alpha is a thoughtful 2D platformer that challenges you to navigate a strange planet and survive. Traversing this foreign land as a lowly astronaut you’re sure to come across obstacles. Getting past them involves thinking laterally and unlocking several secrets. Do all you can to stay alive in this sprawling alien world.

Conker: Live and Reloaded: Originally released for the Nintendo 64, Conker’s Bad Fur Day become known for being the anti-3D platformer which poke fun at other genre entries. Live and Reloaded for the original Xbox is a full ground-up remake that arrived just a few years later, casting you as the titular critter and having you traverse an innuendo-filled world. Conker: Live and Reloaded felt like a breath of fresh air at the time and no 3D platformer quite like it has existed since, so games with Gold subscribers should check it out on July 1st if they haven’t already.

Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break: Ideal for players who like to roll with it, Rock of Ages 3 is a different type of tower defence game set in the prehistoric era. As the title suggests, new for this third entry is the ability to make your own maps and challenges, adding lots of value to a formula that was already chaotic and competitive. Think Super Monkey Ball meets Orcs Must Die and you’ll have a good idea of what to expect when Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break becomes available on July 16th.

Midway Arcade Origins: Video game complications don’t get much better than Midway Arcade Origins, which packs in well over 30 timeless arcade hits into one neat package. You’ll be able to play classics like Defender, Gauntlet and more when Midway Arcade Origins arrives with the second wave of Games with Gold from July 16th onwards.
