Now Xbox is getting a Fortnite bundle

A few months back, it was announced that Sony was pouncing on the Fortnite hype by launching two bundles, one for the PS4 Slim, one for the Pro. Then last week, Nintendo revealed a bundle for the Switch. Both PS4 and Switch bundles came with some in-game currency (V-bucks) and a few exclusive items, as well as a download code for Fortnite, which is free to play.

We've now got a confirmed console clean sweep for Fortnite, as Microsoft have announced an Xbox One S 1TB bundle. As with the other bundles, the Xbox bundle comes with some currency (2000 V-bucks, to be exact, more than the Switch or PlayStation bundles got) and an EON skin pack.

It's a bit of a surprise to see no Xbox One X bundle. As Fortnite is free to play, and therefore essentially a cost-less incentive to include in a bundle, we could have expected Microsoft to include it with the X too.

What is a bit of a surprise is that the Microsoft online store is currently listing the Fortnite bundle as having an RRP of £249.99, £20 more than the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds 1TB bundle (despite PlayerUnknown being a paid-for game) and the same price as One S 1TB bundles with brand new, AAA games such as Forza Horizon 4, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Battlefield V. We expect this price will quickly drop, particularly as we're about to enter the best deal period of the year.

Fortnite is set to be one of the big Christmas games this year, with the battle royale-style game competing with new entrants to the genre, including the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Fortnite's enormous playerbase, child-friendly gameplay and the fact it's free to play give it a significant advantage over the next few months.
