Not long after the first announcment of the PlayStation 5 Pro, Sony has already made a special edition of the console to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation Console.

This run of limited-edition PlayStation hardware celebrates the console's 30th anniversary with some impressive designs that hark back to the original PlayStation, with the matte grey colours and eveb original PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing and cable ties.

The 30th anniversary edition PlayStation 5 Pro and Slim Digital consoles, PlayStation Portal, DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers will release on November 21st, though pre-orders took place on Septermber 26th. For the PS5 Pro bundle, only 12,300 will be sold worldwide.

Within seconds the consoles had sold out - with re-sellers already listing them on eBay for multiple thousands of pounds, while there are still pre-orders available for the DualSense controller.

PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary bundle

The PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary bundle was priced at £960 and sold out instantly when pre-orders went live on September 26th. The bundle consisted of:

  • PlayStation 30th Anniversary limited edition PS5 Pro Console
  • PlayStation 30th Anniversary limited edition DualSense Edge wireless controller
  • PlayStation 30th Anniversary limited edition DualSense wireless controller
  • PlayStation 30th Anniversary limited edition DualSense charging station
  • PlayStation 30th Anniversary limited edition disc drive console cover
  • PlayStation 30th Anniversary limited edition  vertical stand,
  • Original PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing
  • PlayStation shapes cable ties,
  • PlayStation sticker
  • limited edition PlayStation poster
  • PlayStation paperclip

The 30th Anniversary edition PlayStation consoles and accessories are undoubtedly good-looking pieces of tech, and a nice way to celebrate an impressive milestone in gaming. However, everyone, including Sony you'd imagine, could see that this limited-edition release for a console that isn't even out yet would be instantly snapped up by bots and re-sold on the secondary market for double the price and more.

I appreciate the appeal of limited-edition hardware, collectors items and the like, and I think if Sony had done that for just the PS5 pro bundle that would have been okay, but making everything a limited-edition release to be snapped up by queue bots isn't really a great way to get your fans excited for your 30th anniversary.

Did you manage to snag one of the consoles or controllers during the pre-order window? Will you be trying to pick one up from an official retailer or on the secondary market? Let us know in the comments down below, or on our social pages or in our Discord community.

If any more stock for the 30th Anniversary products do appear, we'll have the links for them here on GamingDeals.com.
