It was already clear Insomniac’s latest Sci-Fi platformer was capable of impressive things on Sony’s next gen console, but now it’s also defying expectations in real life, too. How? Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has sold more in its second week of release than it did during its first – an incredible rarity when it comes to boxed retail games.

This news was revealed by business-focussed games site GamesIndustry.biz, which noted “we have seen second-week increases before, but typically to games like Just Dance, which don't have a big pre-order market and instead speak to more casual users who are less inclined to buy week one.” The 2% increase in boxed UK games sales comfortably makes Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart the best-selling game that week, indicating that good word of mouth is spreading with regard’s to Sony’s latest PlayStation 5 exclusive game.
