For many Nintendo gamers, the primary reason for playing a switch console is for the Nintendo exclusive titles, like Zelda, Mario and others - but if you delve deeper into the Nintendo catalogue, there are a whole bunch of sports games for Nintendo switch.
We've highlighted some of the biggest titles available below;
No list of sports games would be complete without FIFA. It's simply the biggest selling sports franchise ever! Recent years have seen EA sports increase the platforms it's available on and now you can play FIFA 22 in handheld mode via the Nintendo Switch! Who wouldn't want to have a quick kick-about on the morning commute?!
Although the overall gaming experience is somewhat disappointing on the Nintendo Switch - compared to the Xbox or Playstation consoles, this is still a good game overall and unlike those aforementioned - can be played on the go, making it one of the best sports games for Nintendo Switch.

If Golf is your thing, the PGA Tour licensed games have been around for a while, from Tiger Woods PGA Tour titles, a Rory Mcllroy game and now 2K's offerings. They have all tended to be very strong entries into the sports game genre.
2K's PGA Tour 2K21 is the latest addition currently available, and the great news is that it is available on Nintendo Switch.
If you like a significant amount of nostalgia with your gaming, look no further than this one. Tony Hawk's video games originally released way back in 1999 - and if like me, you spent countless hours as a kid playing them you would probably be keen to give these remastered version's a go.
As far as the remaster goes, it's brilliant - Activision have done a fantastic job reworking these for modern consoles while keeping as much the same as possible (same skateparks, tricks, rewards etc).

After something with abit more 'fight'? Another 2K title could be just up your street. WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a somewhat 'tongue-in-cheek' representation of pro-wrestling, offering a gamers a cartoony, arcade-feeling game where characters can perform ridiculous stunts, moves and finishes. It's all abit over-the-top, but that's the point!
"And that's the bottom line, 'cus....."
It's been more than 10 years since 2K sports released 'Topspin Tennis 4' (a title that this writer believes is the best tennis game ever made). Unfortunately in that time Tennis video games have been incredibly scarce. Breakpoints 'Tennis World Tour '(1|2) & AO Tennis (1|2) from Big Ant Studios are pretty much the only 2 solid games in the genre.
They are both decent (not Topspin 4 good), but well worth a play if tennis is your thing.

Without doubt, another one of the biggest sports games out there across all platforms. NBA 2K out-sells all sports games apart from FIFA & Madden(unfortunately there's no switch version of Madden currently). So if you like your 'blockbuster' games, and you like basketball: you can't really go wrong with NBA 2K22.
It offers a realistic representation of the game, with real-life teams, rosters & even clothing lines.
One of the most addictive games ever created - in portable format, you really can't ask for much more. Football Manager games have become iconic these days with the in-depth detail ensuring gamers are truly engrossed with the games, signing players, implementing your tactics, hiring staff & building your dynasty. And this switch version now allows you to do all of that on the go.
Granted it's not 2020 anymore, we are 2 years removed from the original scheduled date for the olympics - but considering that the whole event was delayed by a year and that Mario & Sonic is just such a great combination, we still recommend this, even if it is 2022 now.
It's not going to be the best game you have ever played, but that's not what it's about - the idea is fun, playing through 'mini' games in the various Olympic disciplines. So whether you fancy a quick sprint, or trying your hand as an Olympic discus thrower this game has you covered.
As listed above, there are some more 'true-to-life' golfing games available for the Nintendo Switch - but if you would prefer to play your golf as Mario, Luigi & Bowser rather than actual pros, this could be a good alternative for you.;
The game allows for up to 4 players, so you can get your friends, family whoever round for a quick game of golf in your living room - safe in the knowledge there's no need to take it too seriously.
Again, as mentioned above, Tennis games seem to be in short supply within the video game sector - so Nintendo releasing an exclusive Mario Tennis game is good news for Mario fans and Tennis fans. The biggest selling point on the game is the fact that the game takes advantage of the Nintendo Switch motion controls - allowing uses to physically move around in order to perform 'strokes' to hit the ball etc.
It's not the authentic tennis experience of Tennis World Tour or AO Tennis, but like most Nintendo/Mario games, it's just really good fun.
