The PlayStation 5 is an impressive piece of gaming hardware capable of playing the latest games at 4K 120Hz. One slight disappointment with the original PS5 was that it only had a 825GB SSD, which translated to about 660GB of usable storage. The newer PS5 slim models remedied that slightly with a proper SSD capacity of 1TB, giving you roughly 850GB of usable space out of the box.
Fortunately, the PS5 is the first PlayStation console to have its own internal SSD slot. This means it's really easy to add loads of fast storage to help you store more games on your console and load them faster. Sony doesn't make its own official PS5 drives, so the faster PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs will work as long as they fit in the slot and have read speeds of at least 5500MB/s.
There are loads of SSDs, from a variety of manufacturers, that meet these requirements. That means you've got lots of options when it comes to upgrading your PS5 storage to suit your budget, speed, and storage space needs. We've listed 5 of the best PS5 SSD upgrades for you down below.
