Just in case you already didn’t have enough great first-party Nintendo Switch games to play, the rumour mill is currently spinning a yarn that Nintendo’s hybrid console will receive no less than two games that were previously Wii U exclusives. The rumour comes courtesy of trustworthy Nintendo insider Emily Rogers, who’s predictions in the past have been impressively accurate.

Of course, since its initial launch in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has already made a good habit of becoming a new home to games previously left stranded on its underselling predecessor. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and more have all gone on to achieve great sales success on a console that actually, you know, sells. But the good news is that because so many Wii U gems have already come over, it’s not too hard to discern which titles these two mystery games could be.

Rogers herself predicts that the reveal of these two Wii U ports is likely to be featured in an upcoming Nintendo Direct, a date for which is yet to be known, with their announcement either being used to open or close the popular livestream. Enthusiasts have been eager to hear when the next Nintendo Direct will take place, but it’s safe to assume that it’ll be before this financial year ends in April, if not much sooner.

Following on from the immense sales success of other Wii U ports that have arrived on Nintendo Switch, it’s easier to see why the House of Mario continues to make this a thing. For example, despite originally being a Wii U exclusive, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe has gone on to secure 16.69 million unit sales since it launched in April 27th. The console itself has sold 49.79 million, so that’s quite a big percentage that have picked up Mario Kart.

So, with that said, which Wii U exclusive yet to be ported over to Nintendo Switch do you hope will make the jump? We’ve listed all of the key possibilities below:

  • The Wonderful 101
  • Super Mario 3D World
  • Pikmin 3
  • Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
  • Xenoblade Chronicles X
  • Nintendo Land
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
  • Star Fox 0

Personally, our money is one of the upcoming Wii U ports being at least one of the two The Legend of Zelda HD remasters. Though both may have started out life originally on the Nintendo GameCube, Switch players aren’t inundated with classic-style, dungeon-based Zelda games. In any case, hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to see what these heavily rumoured titles are.
