In an age of 4K streaming, Spotify playlists and Amazon Prime next day delivery, it’s not too often you hear about people not being able to access something – let alone physical copies of a video game. That’s exactly what’s happened to the console version of World War Z, however, a new first-person shooter developed by Saber Interactive that pits players against hordes of zombies.
The lack of physical World War Z copies was first noticed by PlayStation-focussed site Push Square, which highlighted how both GAME and Amazon UK aren’t able to guarantee players disc editions of World War Z within the immediate future. Of course, this doesn’t mean digital copies are in short supply – anyone can currently play World War Z via digital download where it retails for £34.99. If you’re someone who prefers buying games physically, though, who knows when World War Z will be available.
When you consider that World War Z stormed its way to the top of the physical game sales chart during its week of release - selling over a million copies across all platforms - the picture becomes slightly clearer as to why physical discs are in short supply. The hunger for zombies in video games is clearly undergoing a bit of a resurgence, with Saber Interactive’s game being the exemplar. This, along with Days Gone recently being revealed as being the UK’s best-selling physical game in 2019 so far, seemingly confirms this.
