Ever wished you could just pack up your bags, move to a new town and then start a new life? Then Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch might just be the perfect social simulator for you. It’s the latest entry into Nintendo’s long-running series set in a charming world full of anthropomorphic characters, where you set up shop and decorate the landscape around you.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons marks the first time that the loveable franchise has been rendered in glorious HD, having now made the jump from Nintendo 3DS to the Nintendo Switch. You begin by creating your own customizable character and moving to a deserted island, eventually going on to develop friendships and relationships with the rest of the AI community.

Customise your character and home in Nintendo’s charming life simulator

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a social life sim that offers up a different experience for every player. It’s all informed by such factors as: What do you want your new home to look like? Who will you choose to make friends with? Which activities will you engage in? New Horizons offers up all you need to create your very own Island paradise that will adapt and change in real time as the new seasons roll in.

New Horizons marks the first Animal Crossing entry to grace the Nintendo Switch, being the first mainline sequel to arrive on a home console since 2013’s New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS. Fans have been waiting for a HD Animal Crossing for years now, so when March 2, 2020 arrives it’s safe to say that their expectations will comfortably be met.

A brand new robust crafting system

A new crafting system makes its appearance in Animal Crossing as part of New Horizons for the very first time. Now you’re encouraged to collect as much material as you can find, constructing everything from stylish furniture to useful tools that’ll then help you to build better, more beautiful items and objects of interest. Get stuck in and unleash your inner interior designer.

An endless number of relaxing activities

Of course, any social simulation game is will only be as strong as the core simulation aspect – and in this regard, Animal Crossing: New Horizons isn’t lacking for things to see and do. You’ll be able to engage in myriad relaxing activities like gardening, fishing and decorating, with planned seasonal events likely to be added the further into New Horizons’ lifespan.

Take up residence in your own colourful island paradise

While previous Animal Crossing games have casted you simply as a new resident or even the mayor of the town, New Horizons blows up this premise to take place on an island utopia for the very first time. What’s more, you’ll be able to experience this location as it continues to grow and develop around you, from building your own house to simply laying back and gazing up at the stars.

Experience new pastimes as seasons change throughout the year

Unlike other games, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will change and adapt depending on the time of year you check in. In the spring, for example, why not catch butterflies using your net or pick your flowers. Winter, on the other hand, will be your only chance to build snowmen and appropriately wrap up warm. This ensures there’s always something new in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to check out.
