This year sees the world of Destroy All Humans! return, thanks to a ground-up remake of the 2005 original helmed by Black Forest Games. This marks the first instalment in the body-swapping franchise in 12 years, reimagining Crypto’s initial adventure through fresh visuals, a brand-new soundtrack and subtle gameplay updates to modernise the experience for new players. Needless to say, terrorising the people of 1950s Earth has never looked so good.

All the classic locations and weapon types from the original return in this 2020 Destroy All Humans! remake, beginning on a quaint little farm until, before you know it, you’re wreaking havoc in the infamous location of Area 51. Every asset has been completely remade for this updated version, with each of the game’s six distinct settings working as a sandbox of chaotic delights.

The cult-classic alien invasion game reimagined for PS4 and Xbox One

Having largely been absent during the Xbox 360 and PS3 generation, Destroy All Humans! has since built up a cult following. And while this remake might be being worked on by a totally different team, Black Forest Games have been meticulous to recreate every location, weapon ability and character model just as fans remember it.

UFO combat returns to let you attack from the sky

In between conventional third-persons sections where you must investigate areas and complete missions as Crypto, at certain points you’ll be required to enter your flying saucer to cause destruction from above. These sections help break up the traditional Destroy All Humans! gunplay, seeing you suck up everything from cars to cows, using the UFO’s multiple different weapon types to cause chaos.

Multiple different editions of Destroy All Humans! available

Destroy All Humans! is coming back in a big way with three different editions available on PS4 and Xbox One at launch. You of course have the standard retail version, but for those wanting a little something extra exists both the DNA Collector’s Edition and the Crypto-137 Edition. The former includes an 8” “Crypto’N’Cow” figurine, while the latter features a 23” replica of Crypto and a backpack.
