A new future-set spin-off from the long-standing Drakengard series, Nier: Automata is an open-world action RPG that thrusts players into an Earth that has suffered devastation from a proxy war between machines and otherworldly invaders. Humanity has vacated as a result, having now been forced to send Androids do their bidding and seek out life to assess if it’s in a liveable state.

You take a hold of two of these androids, 2B and 9S, battling your way through a scorched planet full of rogue battle units. Unlike most modern action games, Nier: Automata balances satisfying action with eloquent style, flipping the perspective from third-person to top-down to side-scroller at various specific points of the journey.

Explore a ravaged Earth where androids are the only hope

Unlike most other open-world settings that aim to be dense and luscious with endless objectives to complete, Nier: Automata’s world is cold, bleak and industrial, challenging players to once again find the light across a focused journey. The feel of metal translates to all the enemies that you’ll be fighting across this 10-12 hour adventure, with everything from mechs and flying robots coming your way to test your fighting style and ability.

Multiple endings reveal a deeper story

If you think you’ve seen everything after just completing Nier: Automata once – think again! While during the first playthrough you’ll play as ambitious android saviour 2B, following playthroughs will see you don the guise of other characters you previously met along the way, opening up other angles to the central story you never would have thought of otherwise. There are a staggering 26 endings in total – will you put in the effort to see them all?

The latest game from legendary developer PlatinumGames

PlatnumGames is a developer known for delivering action games that offer combat with a stylish blend. Their previous efforts include the likes of Vanquish, Metal Gear Solid Rising: Vengeance and Mad World. As such, Nier Automata is the result of all this experience culminating together to represent their best efforts yet.
