The fun continues in the Nintendo Switch’s iteration of the creature collecting phenomenon, all thanks to the recently revealed Pokémon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass. This represents a new move from The Pokémon company in terms of dabbling DLC, with it being ostensibly confirmed that this will be Sword and Shield’s version of releasing a third, ultimate Pokémon game that brings all the best elements together.

So what does the Pokémon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass get you? Well, more Pokémon for one thing. Those that pick up this DLC pass will open up the ability to catch 200 new Pokémon not yet seen roaming around in the Galar region. Some of these will be classic pokemon making their way back to the franchise, while others will be entirely brand new. The Pokémon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass introduces the best of both worlds.

All new sights in the Isle of Armor and The Crown of Tundra

The main focus of the Pokémon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass are two totally new regions. The first drop, releasing in June 2020, is called the Isle of Armor and takes place on an island just off the shores of the Galar region. It boats a very martial arts-esque vibe, letting you visit a Dojo for Pokémon battles and a new legendary called Kubfu. Less is known about Autumn’s The Crown of Tundra DLC drop, but expect it to feature just as many new sights and sounds.

Exclusive outfits and items only featured with the pass

The base Pokémon Sword & Shield campaigns placed more emphasis than ever on player customization. From gym leader outfits to some stacked racks within the in-game store, it was never a problem to make your journey to be the best (like no one ever was) all the more personable. The forthcoming Expansion Pass adds even more of these, including special training uniforms and outfits based on Eevee and Pikachu.

Explore wide open environments littered with new Pokémon

Both The Isle of Armor and The Crown of Tundra introduces more varied areas to what was seen in the original Sword and Shield base game. The Galar region was heavily inspired by Britain, but moving the action off-shore means that these new environments aren’t confined by this tone. Isle of Armor, as alluded to, goes the Eastern route, while The Crown of Tundra sets you off within a region uncannily similar to the Wintery arctic.
