Developer Firaxis is taking the proven strategic RPG formula from their XCOM series of games and applying it to the Marvel universe with their next release Marvel's Midnight Suns. You will pilot a fully customisable original hero aligning yourself with a vast array of heroes from Marvel including The Avengers, X-Men and many more. Marvel's Midnight Suns is combining turn-based strategic combat with card-based tactics with the progression and story elements of that of an RPG, a cross-over worthy of the Marvel name.

Your main character throughout the story of Marvel's Midnight Suns is The Hunter, a superhero with a most intriguing backstory; born through the love of an ordinary man and a powerful immortal sorceress named Lilith. When the Hunter's father died Lilith was overcome with grief and was led down a path of darkness becoming a goddess of evil whom The Hunter had to vanquish. In the battle both Lilith and the Hunter died but now the Hunter has been resurrected and has a new story to embark on whilst haunted by the memories of the past.
You will be able to fully customize The Hunter throughout your playthrough and shift your alignment between light and dark paths based on your actions and decisions in-game. The light path specialises you as more of a healer/support archetype whilst dark focuses on damage and taking control of your foes. This is a character you can truly make your own.
Whilst Marvel's Midnight Suns is clearly taking a lot of influence from Firaxis' XCOM series they're mixing the formula up massively with the addition of card game-based mechanics. The way this works is that the game is turn-based and each hero will have a deck of at least 8 cards that they will be able to play with on their respective turns. This should make for some exciting combat scenarios and as the game is squad-based you will be able to mix and match different types of heroes and decks to create the ultimate superhero team to take on every challenge.
The game will also often limit you to using specific heroes and squad sizes for encounters which will make for different compelling scenarios for you to take on.
