Obsidian has already proved its RPG game chops numerous times with their work on games like South Park: The Stick of Truth and Fallout: New Vegas. The Pillars of Eternity series is Obsidian’s love-letter to classic table-top RPGs, casting players as their own squad of heroes where choices play a significant role on the narrative.

The core story will see you thrust into a fantasy world while in pursuit of a god that has gone rogue. This journey won’t only see you traverse land, but sea as well. Captain your ship and embark on this dangerous voyage to save the world. The entirely new archipelago region of Deadfire has plenty of secrets to discover – and now it’s all playable on PS4, Xbox One and even Nintendo Switch.

In-depth turn-based combat as a party of various characters

Any ship captain is only as good as its crew, and here is where the importance of recruiting the best party possible comes in. Choose from seven unique companions that can join you on your quest, assigning each with different abilities that will come in handy during the heat of battle. They’ll attack in turn-based fashion, gaining XP throughout the Pillars of Eternity II campaign.

A dedicated RPG that’s built for single-player play

While most table-top inspired fantasy RPGs often give in to the temptation to go big in scope through multiplayer, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire keeps things simple by dedicating itself entirely for solo play. You’ll be able to manage and interact with your AI crew, but this is a deep single-player experience that only adds to its sheer handcrafted feel.

Revised UI and controls specifically for console play

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire originally made its debut on PC back in 2018, but now this massive fantasy RPG has made itself known on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. As such, the traditional point-and-click controls has been completely overhauled for better use with a gamepad, giving players direct control over character movement and use of skills.
