Borderlands has had a bit of a comeback as of late, with the launch of a third official entry back in 2019 and now the reveal of fantasy-based spin-off Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Set to release on PC, PlayStation and Xbox on March 25th, 2022, cell-shaded looter-shooting meets Dungeons and Dragons in this wacky adventure where the titular Tiny Tina is your zany DM. This is a high fantasy adventure with a difference, bringing back the 4-player co-op with an all-new theme.
This world of witches and wizards plays much like a tabletop adventure, with combat encounters prone to randomised change and hero customization being prioritised. This places it far away from the classic Borderlands mould of old, but there’s still plenty of crazy weapons and powerful weapons at your disposal. Only by plunging into the most dangerous of dungeons can you hope to find the best loot.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will feature four-player online co-op, letting you and friends live out your tabletop fantasy adventure in authentic fashion. You’ll travel to lands filled with dragons, skeletons and other mythological beasties, all of which looks great coated in Borderlands’ trademark comic book art style. Gunning through castles, dungeons and the like also guarantees a good sense of humour.
Unlike the vault hunter characters of old, each hero in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is infinitely more customisable. This is largely down to the game’s multiclass system that enables you to mix and match six different skill trees, making for unique combinations that aren’t likely to be copied. Levelling up your hero further opens up powers and spells until you become the ultimate adventurer.
Story will play a huge part of the adventure in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, as the titular DM spins a tale about four heroes attempting to take down the Dragon Lord. He’s been a tyrant over these whimsical lands for far too long, meaning it’s more important than ever for you to traverse dangerous dungeons in search of better-powered loot.
